News Interactive is responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of some fifteen domestic and international BBC websites serving upwards of 55 million page impressions per day. My tasks included developing new sites (e.g. PDA, NewsWatch, AvantGo, Election), refactoring existing sites (e.g. News, Sport, Russian, CBBC, Chinese) and building in house applications to manage rendering and testing. The primary technologies used were Java, Appleās WebObjects (ObjectiveC, WebScript), Perl, Apache Web Server, Oracle, NT, Linux and UNIX command tools. Other projects included developing a CEEFAX rendering engine for a new enterprise-level multi-platform authoring project.
